Originally from Scotland and Ireland, people bearing the name Sheehy now live around the world. This little spot on the internet is a place for the Sheehys of the western USA to share their family newsletter.
Our Sheehy Family Newsletter was born in the pandemic and is now in its fifth year. Contributions to this and previous issues have come from many members of both the Oregon and Montana Sheehy families. The articles have broadened our knowledge and understanding of our family history as well as our awareness of the amazing accomplishments of our contemporary cousins and relatives. We have also been able to ensure that material about the family from old and new published sources is made accessible to all of our family members.
Welcome to the fifth edition of the Sheehy Family Newsletter. As usual, we have a section on family history, a section on the current generation, and a section on family news and recent events. We are grateful to have both new and returning authors who share their knowledge and experiences with us.
It is amazing that the fourth issue of our Sheehy Family Newsletter will be the first that coincides with our annual Sheehy family reunion. Although the idea of a newsletter was born in the early days of the pandemic, none of us ever imagined that we would have to cancel two family reunions before being able to meet again, or that it would take so long.
Welcome to the third edition of the Sheehy Family Newsletter. And a special edition it is! To enjoy this publication to its fullest effect, the stories should be consumed with a slice of Katy Bloom’s Chocolate Cream pie and fork in hand (page 38), and a cup of hot coffee to wash it all down!
Welcome to the second edition of the Sheehy Family Newsletter! Like the first edition, this second edition is divided into sections featuring Sheehy family history, stories from the current generation, and recent events among the ever growing Sheehy descendants. New and returning authors have made enlightening and entertaining contributions. We hope you enjoy it and that you learn something you didn’t know about your very interesting relatives, both past and present!
This is the first edition of a Sheehy family newsletter. The ever-growing family tree has more and more branches and leaves and it is increasingly difficult to keep track of all of our cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles. The annual family reunion has helped us maintain our links with one another, although imperfectly because not everyone is able to attend. This year, though, we were forced to cancel the reunion due to the pandemic, so even that mechanism could not be used.
